Laser eye surgery cost information

Clear information on pricing, what is included, finance options, and insurance

Laser eye surgery costs what it costs because it is a high-precision medical service, not a simple product. A large part of the fee is the technology. We use advanced diagnostic scanners to map your eyes, then specialised lasers to reshape the cornea with accuracy. Different laser platforms have different features, and they are expensive to purchase, maintain, calibrate, and keep compliant with strict safety standards.

You are also paying for the clinical team and the planning behind the procedure. Our surgeons complete many years of medical training, ophthalmology training, and often additional fellowship training. That experience matters when assessing suitability, managing risk, and tailoring treatment to your prescription and lifestyle.

The cost also includes thorough pre-treatment testing, careful treatment design, and structured follow-up care. Those steps help detect issues early, support safe healing, and give you clear guidance before and after treatment.

For laser eye surgery and refractive lens surgery, we provide the flexibility of multiple payment methods, including Eftpos, Visa, Mastercard, and bank transfers. To provide affordable access to our laser eye surgery services, additional finance options are available using Afterpay or Total Lifestyle Credit and payments may be as low as $45/week. TLC Payment Plan Now AVAILABLE! Interest free credit also available through GEM Visa Cards.

For surgical procedures we accept all major private health insurance programs. Our staff are available to assist you with your insurance claim, making the process smoother for you. There is likely to be a difference between our surgical fee and what is covered by Medicare and your health insurance provider. This will vary depending on the proposed treatment and your private health coverage. For cataract and lens surgery this will be affected by the choice of lens, particularly whether you decide to have a premium or a standard lens inserted.

We will provide you with an accurate cost before any surgery, ensuring that you have full knowledge of the cost of any recommended treatment. Payment in full is required before surgery.

Outside our fees there may be additional costs for surgical treatments from hospital fees, and anesthetic fees. Your private health insurance will also provide coverage for these, however there may be additional out of pocket expenses.

Consultations

Full payment is required on the day of appointment. We will send your claim to medicare and the Medicare rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank account, generally within 2 working days. Private health insurance does not cover in office consultation costs, unless you are a hospital inpatient.

  • Can I spread the cost of laser eye surgery?
  • Many clinics offer finance or payment options to help spread the cost over time. This can make it easier to choose the treatment and level of care that best suits your eyes, rather than choosing based on price alone. Finance options may depend on approval, terms, and availability, so it is best to ask the clinic what plans are currently offered.
  • What is usually included in the cost of laser eye surgery?
  • The cost often includes detailed eye scans, treatment planning, the laser procedure, surgeon care, and follow-up appointments. Some clinics also include enhancement policies, while others charge separately. Always ask what is included before comparing prices, so you are comparing the full care package rather than the headline cost alone.
  • Why do different laser eye surgery clinics charge different prices?
  • Prices vary because clinics may use different laser platforms, diagnostic equipment, surgeon-led care models, aftercare packages, and levels of clinical support. Some prices may include all appointments and follow-up care, while others may not. The best value is not always the lowest price. It is the option that gives you safe screening, clear advice, suitable technology, and care that matches your eyes.
